Trekking in Nepal - Important Points to Consider While on Trek

trekking in nepal
There are many good trekking destinations in the world like Patagonian Andes in South America, Back Country Trekking in Canadian Rocky Mountains, Kilimanjaro (Tanzania), Inca Trail (Peru), India, and Nepal. But among all of these Himalayan region of Nepal is considered best destination for all trekking purpose by most of the trekking lovers in the world. Here one can experience mind blowing landscape, scenic beauty of mighty mountains of Himalaya, shining snow laden peaks, vegetation diversity, Buddhist monasteries and Hindu temples, thrilling adventurous activities and much more.

Nepal has some of the highest mountain peaks of the world for example Annapurna and Mt Everest which is the highest mountain peak of not only Himalayan Range but of the world. It is the ultimate beauty of Himalayas which attracts lakhs of travelers each year to Nepal. Especially Australian, Europeans, and Americans love to go for trekking here. Nepal also offers a range of adventurous activities apart from the trekking like mountain climbing, bike tours, jungle camping, etc. Here are some tips which you can follow before going for any trekking tour in Himalayas, Nepal.

Opt for a Registered Trekking Agency: Although you can also do solo trekking but I will advise you to choose for a good trekking agency, as they have years of good experience in organizing trekking trips at or around major mountains like Everest, Annapurna, etc. But while choosing any travel agent make sure that it should be registered with TAAN (Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal) or Nepal Tourism Board.

Get a Valid Permit: A valid permit i.e. TIMS (Trekkers Information Management System) card is required before taking on any such adventurous tour in Nepal. You don’t need to panic; any good trekking tour provider company can make you available these TIMS cards easily. This card is valid only for some most popular trekking areas like Annarpurna, Khumbhu, Langtang, Helambu areas; if you want to explore other areas then you will have to make sure that you get special permits for that; again you don’t need to be bothered as your registered trekking agent can assist in this point too. Getting a permit is very necessary and do not take it for granted, because you may be asked to show your permits by the Nepalese police at any point of time, otherwise you could be in trouble.

Climatic Conditions: Climatic conditions are also very important thing to consider before going for any mountain adventurous activity in Nepal. The best season for trekking in Nepal is either before monsoon or just after monsoon, as at this time the climatic conditions are quite stable and one can enjoy the wonderful and clear view of panoramic views of mighty Himalayan mountains, while the temperature at higher altitude(above 4000 meter) is also moderate thus comfortable for trekking. Although the winter period(December to February) also offers clear views of mountains and scenery but it is too cold at higher altitude, so prefer not to trek at higher elevation(above 4000 meter).

Health Conditions: If anybody want to go for tea house trekking then it isn’t necessary that he or she should be physically very strong, but if you are opting for Camp Trekking then it is very necessary that you must not be suffering from any kind of illness but should be physical fit.

Medical and Rescue Insurance: It is better if you get yourself covered by the medical and rescue insurance policy in case of any emergency. Now there are some insurance companies who have started providing medical and health insurance cover for hiking, climbing, and trekking up to 6000 meters elevation. Such covers may cover your personal liability, life cover, medical expenses, 24 hours emergency service, and the helicopter expenses in case of any emergency rescue conditions for example any accident, severe physical injury, critical medical condition or extremely harsh weather conditions.

Thus it is the time to give a break to your daily routine life and plan to explore the unexplored beauty of mighty Himalayas and take a refreshing trekking tour which will not only fill your life with unlimited thrill & adventure but also unforgettable pleasant memories which you will bring home. Happy trekking in Nepal.

Happy Trekking!!!!
